Police press charges after being confronted by teen holding ironing board
 

A young man under the influence of drink or drugs has been prosecuted for assault after he approached two police officers holding an ironing board.
The officers were responding to a report that two men were seen fighting in the street at Cavaghan Gardens, off London Road, Carlisle, but they arrived at a house nearby to find 19-year-old Josh Finley on the stairs, clutching the ironing board.
At the city’s Rickergate courts complex, Finley, of Furze Street, also off London Road, admitted two common assaults – one on each of the police officers who confronted him on September 17.
