Police accused of refusing to prosecute dangerous cyclists



A lawyer known as ‘Mr Loophole’ has accused West Midlands Police of giving up on prosecuting cyclists who break the law.
Nick Freeman, who earned the nickname for his record of getting drivers off motoring convictions, lodged an FOI request with the force which revealed just two cyclists were prosecuted in 2015 for riding without lights.
And between 2012 and 2015 the force failed to issue a single penalty notice to cyclists who fail to stop at junctions.
