From today, you’ll have to pay 5p for any plastic bag that you take in every supermarket or large store.
The Government has imposed a new law which requires all supermarkets to charge 5p per carrier bag used by customers to crack down on the amount of plastic bags used.
However, there are certain times when you won’t have to pay.
You will not be charged 5p when buying: 1) Uncooked fish and fish products;
2) Uncooked meat and poultry;
3) Takeaways;
4) Loose seeds, flowers or goods contaminated by soil;
5) Unwrapped blades, including axes, knives, and knife and razor blades;
