Plans to install 50 inch TV screens in medieval County Durham church rejected
 

A bid to have 50 inch TV screens installed in a historic Chester-le-Street church have been rejected.
The Rector at St Mary and St Cuthbert Church wanted to fit four screens to the medieval pillars in the Grade I listed building.
In a statement to the Church of England’s Consistory Court, which is responsible for approving applications, it said there was a need to “reach the marginalised and the unchurched” and there’s a desire to be “more attractive” to younger families.
It also said the one screen currently used is inadequate because it can’t be seen by everyone.
