Plane forced to land sideways in intense crosswinds



A pilot was forced to land a plane sideways when it got caught in a heavy storm that battered Europe on Tuesday.
The light aircraft had taken off from Bologna and was coming into Dusseldorf Airport when it got caught in heavy crosswinds caused by Storm Friederike.
Winds in that area reached up to 68mph as the storm ripped through Germany but the Eurowings pilot managed to safely manoeuvre the Dash8 Q400 onto the ground.
Plane enthusiast Hans van den Hovel managed to capture the incredible footage and posted it on YouTube, where it has now been viewed more than 2,200,000 times.
