Plan to make Liverpool's parks pay their way

A Parks Trust should be set up in Liverpool to protect their future, it was proposed today.
The move is one of the key recommendations in a long-awaited review into the city’s green spaces which is published today.
Led by actor and environmentalist Simon O’Brien, the Strategic Green and Open Spaces Review Board’s recommends all parks be put into a trust to protect them from being sold off.
He also said the parks could benefit from cafes and concessions which would bring in revenue which could then be “ring fenced” to help pay for the park’s costs.
