Plan to build 3,000 new homes in Newcastle set to be given green light
 

A controversial plan to build 3,000 homes in the west of Newcastle is set to be given the green light next week.
After a two-month public consultation Newcastle City Council are now seeking formal approval of the Callerton masterplan.
The scheme, first unveiled back in May, is part of an ambitious plan to build 21,000 homes across the city by 2030 – creating an estimated 14,000 jobs in the process.
The plan is seen as key in growing the authority’s council tax base - which will play an ever increasing role in funding services after 2020 when the Government’s central grant will cease.... read more
