Pensioner, 79, dies after being hit by car in Blackhall Colliery



A pensioner has died after being hit by a car in Blackhall Colliery.
The man, 79, was struck by a blue Vauxhall Agila in Middle Street, at 10am on Monday.
He was air lifted to Middlesbrough’s James Cook Hospital in a critical condition but later died from his injuries.
The road was closed to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident and reopened just before 12noon.
Meanwhile, a biker was airlifted to hospital after a collision with a car in Northumberland.
Emergency services were called to the crash on the A69 westbound junction with Bellister Bank at 5.45pm on Saturday.
