Pardon suffragettes made criminals during fight for vote, say campaigners
 

Suffragettes who were jailed during their fight for the right to vote should be pardoned 100 years on, campaigners have urged.
Feminist activists at the time were treated as criminals, with many routinely serving spells in prison.
On the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote the government is facing calls to overturn the convictions of those jailed for joining the Suffragettes and protesting  before the implementation of the Representation of the People Act a century ago.
