Paramedic suspended for 'reckless disregard for risk'



A paramedic who stopped three times while driving a 21-year-old woman with a history of fits to the wrong hospital, has been suspended for 12 months.
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) fitness to practice tribunal found the actions of East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) paramedic Shane Kennedy had "led to a significant risk of serious harm" to the woman, who was believed to be epileptic, and to a 74-year-old patient whom he did not assess properly and inappropriately discharged after a fall.
