It's one of, if not the most well-known of Oscar Wilde's plays, and while it is now 121 years since The Importance of Being Earnest was first performed, its popularity remains to this day, including a revival in 2011 as well as being adapted for the cinema three times.
Its farcical plot focuses on the degrees to which young artistic Victorians would go to escape the era's suffocating social rules and was set among a group of louche friends living in a boho area of central London.
