A “bubbly” nurse who died after a surgeon accidentally pierced a major blood vessel was just two months away from becoming a nan.
The family of Annette Thwaites, 63, have paid tribute to the mum-of-two after an inquest heard she died following a surgical “error”.
The hospital’s chief executive has now apologised over what happened - but the family said they still had “unanswered questions” about the tragedy.
Mrs Thwaites had just semi-retired from the NHS when she went for the operation at Arrowe Park Hospital last year.
