Number of children arrested in Nottinghamshire falls by almost 70 per cent

The number of children arrested in Nottinghamshire has fallen significantly in the last five years.
An increased effort by police as well as a successful campaign by the Howard League for Penal Reform, which aims to keep boys and girls out of the criminal justice system, has led to a fall of 68 per cent since 2010.
Figures published by the charity today (October 10), show that during 2015, Nottinghamshire Police made 1,840 arrests of children aged 17 and under. That represents a huge fall since 2010, when the force made 5,743 child arrests.
