NSPCC reports child neglect and cruelty referrals up 23% in Derby
 

Derby has seen a 23% rise in the number of referrals for child neglect and cruelty in three years, according to figures from the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
The NSPCC Helpline saw 137 contacts in Derby in 2015-2016 to its 24-hour service that were serious enough for them to be referred to agencies such as the police or social services. This compares with 111 in 2012-2013.
