Nottingham pub honours Florence Boot with beer and plants
 

Shopkeeper-turned-industrialist Jesse Boot last year belatedly got his Nottingham blue plaque. His wife Florence has done better – her memory is now celebrated in a newly-opened memorial garden and a pint of beer.
Both are to be found at The Embankment, the Nottingham pub with an unique Boots connection: the newly-Listed building was once the "No.2" shop in the growing Boots retail empire and it became, at Florence's instigation, the company social club.
