A notorious axe murderer from Liverpool has been found dead in Lincoln.
James Howey, 55, was found in a bandstand under a sleeping bag by a police officer after taking what is thought to be one of the most potent so-called legal highs available.
He served a life sentence after killing his friend Peter Baker after the two men argued following a night out in Merseyside.
Howey was jailed for the fatal axe attack on the 20-year-old on New Year’s Day in 1981.
He smashed his victim over the head with the weapon repeatedly after a drinking session.
