Northumberland woman forced to live life lying down launches plea for care help
 

A desperately sick North-East woman is appealing for help after her mum was left as her sole carer.
Melanie Hartshorn suffers from Ehlers-Danos Syndrome, which causes problems with her muscles and her joints to disconnect and she has been suffering from Craniocervical instability since the age of 13.
This means Melanie’s head is sinking onto her spine in a way she describes as “a pumpkin on a toothpick”.
Doctors and carers in the UK have refused treatment leaving her mum to undertake the task 24 hours a day unless she can raise £150,000 for US treatment.
