Northern Ireland: Sinn Fein, SDLP, Greens etc in bid to veto Brexit



NORTHERN IRISH opposition parties mounted a bid at the High Court in Belfast yesterday to claim the right of veto over June’s Brexit vote.
Challenging British PM Theresa May’s prerogative to trigger Article 50 negotiations in March, QC Ronan Lavery said independence from Brussels would have have a “catastrophic” effect on the peace process and that devolution under the Good Friday Agreement meant Westminster was no longer the sovereign power.
