North Thoresby 1940s Weekend stalwart steps down after a decade at the helm



THE long-serving chairman of North Thoresby 1940s Weekend has stepped down after 10 years at the helm.
Dave Barnett, 72, has been a stalwart of the popular village highlight from the start but he now feels the time is right to hand over to someone else.
"I have been chairman for 10 years and it is time for somebody else to have a crack at it," he said.
"In many respects, there's no rest from it.
"Theoretically, even before this year's event is run, we are planning for the next one.
"It's a bit like painting the Forth Bridge. It's never ending."
