North Korea claims it has tested a hydrogen bomb - what is one and why is the US worried?



North Korea claims it has had “perfect success” with an underground hydrogen bomb test.
It is the country’s sixth nuclear test since 2006, this time involving a device potentially far more deadly than an atomic bomb.
The tests sparked a reaction from neighbouring South Korea, which completed a live fire exercise simulating an attack on North Korea’s nuclear test site.
The Americans also hit back, with US defence secretary Jim Mattis, saying the US will respond to any North Korean threat with a “massive military response - a response both effective and overwhelming”.
