North East puts pressure on Theresa May as airport decision imminent
 

Downing Street has insisted the Government remains committed to taking a decision on the expansion of Heathrow Airport amid reports of continued wrangling among ministers.
Number 10 refused to be drawn on reports that Theresa May had ordered a “short pause” to give ministers a chance to air their views before a final decision is taken on whether to build a new runway at Heathrow or Gatwick.
However the Prime Minister’s official spokeswoman said that Mrs May was determined to get the decision “right” so that future generations would get the full benefits of airport expansion.
