North East NHS boss resigns from role to 'pursue other interests'
 

An NHS boss has resigned from his post after almost four years in the role.
Hugh Morgan Williams is standing down as chairman of the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS trust (NTW).
He temporarily stepped down in December last year after allegations that his charity - the Cowesby Trust - paid him large sums of cash.
The Charity Commission launched an investigation into the Cowesby Trust in 2016 after concerns over its financial management.
A spokesperson for the commission confirmed the inquiry is still ongoing.
