North East drivers back calls to introduce lower drink drive limit
 

North East drivers have backed calls from a leading alcohol charity to lower the drink drive limit in England.
In England and Wales the current limit stands at 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, the equivalent to 35mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, a figure which has not been revised since 1965.
With Malta recently announcing plans to lower its drink drive limit from 80mg to 50mg, England and Wales currently have the highest legal limit in Europe.
