Normanton Allotments Society: Family set to donate bench and restore plaque
 

BACK in August we told how members of Normanton Allotments Society were keen to reunite a memorial seat plaque with the family of the soldier to whom it had been dedicated.
One of the plot-holders had discovered the plaque at the allotments off Warwick Avenue. The inscription on it reads: "To the glory of God and in loving memory of my dear son William Edward Slater, who died of wounds in France May 4th, 1917, aged 21 years."
