No link between deputy mayor arson attack and other councillors' cars being torched - police
 

An alleged arson attack on the Middlesbrough deputy mayor’s car is not being linked to other incidents where councillors’ cars have been torched, insist police.
Councillor Charlie Rooney condemned the attack on his car , saying that the “abhorrent” behaviour of certain people had “heightened tensions” in the town.
It came after another councillor’s car was torched in February, and three others suffered a similar attack in 2012.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman confirmed the force was investigating the incident, which they say happened in the early hours of yesterday morning.
