Nine-year-old Kenton school boy in hospital after hit and run minibus knocks him off bike
 

A nine-year-old schoolboy is in hospital after being knocked off his bike by a hit-and-run driver.
The child was hit by a mini bus driver on Hazeldene Avenue in Kenton, Newcastle, at around 5.20pm on Sunday.
Police say the driver got out of the vehicle and spoke to the boy.
He then got back in the van and moved it a short distance up the road before fleeing the scene on foot.
The child was then taken to hospital by paramedics where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Officers are now searching for the culprit and have appealed for help from the public.
