Nightmare as easyJet flight gets to Gran Canaria before being forced to make U-turn back to the UK



A commercial flight full of holiday-makers was just 300 miles from its destination of Madeira when it made a U-turn back towards the UK.
The passengers, who were frustratingly close to beginning their breaks on the Portugese Island were stunned to hear they would be heading back to Manchester Airport.
The flight had already been delayed by two hours due to no pilot being available at the time.
When the plane eventually took off, heading for Funchal Airport in Madeira, the pilot was forced to land the plane in Gran Canaria due to powerful winds.
