Newcastle planners set to approve a plan to build more than 1,000 homes to the west of the city
 

Applications to build more than a thousand homes to the west of Newcastle will go before city planners this week.
The proposals come just days after a controversial masterplan, which paves the way for such housing developments, was approved by Newcastle City Council’s cabinet.
The applications, for 550, 446 and 154 homes respectively are centred around the Callerton area with Stamfordham Road to the south and Whorlton Lane to the north.
