The Odeon cinema has been a landmark icon of Newcastle’s Pilgrim Street for 85 years.
But the site is now is central to plans to transform the area between Northumberland Street and Market Street into a retail zone, boosting Newcastle’s appeal as a go-to shopping destination.
News the cinema, which holds memories for tens of thousands of Tynesiders, could be consigned to the history books has met with mixed reaction from those on Pilgrim Street today.
