Newcastle expert explains why people take part in 'killer clown' craze
 

Clowns may be causing panic across our region but a Newcastle University academic has a theory why they do it.
There have been a string of sightings across the region prompting police action with Northumbria Police proactively attending supposed targets revealed on social media.
Dr Joan Harvey, a chartered psychologist, believes the killer clowns craze is seen by many as a joke.
She said: “It’s a thrill, a game, a jolly jape. They think it’s a joke and people of a certain age do it.
“It will give you this adrenalin rush but it will be a surge of adrenalin that is not a nice surge.
