Newcastle City Council apologises over Great North Road bus lane ticket blunder
 

A biker had an unwanted birthday gift when a £60 fine landed on his doorstep for legally riding his motorbike in a bus lane.
Sinclair McLeod was riding his motorcycle along the Great North Road in Gosforth, Newcastle, when a camera caught him riding in the bus lane.
He was on his way home from his fishing trip in Scotland to celebrate his 56th birthday when the camera snapped his bike.
The ticket cited that he was being hit with a £60 penalty charge because he rode his motorbike in a bus lane - although bikes are allowed to do so.
