Newcastle city centre Empress bar must stay closed for another month, licensing bosses rule



A Newcastle nightclub forced to shut over drug dealing fears must stay closed for another month, licensing bosses have ruled.
The Empress bar was initially hit with a closure order on December 18 by Northumbria Police officers targeting drug dealing around nighttime hotspots.
At the end of December, a district judge at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court ordered the Empress to remain closed for a further two weeks.
