New service to tackle hate crime as campaigners warn Brexit has led to 'anti-immigrant' sentiment
 

Brexit has brought an ‘anti-immigrant’ sentiment to the surface, campaigners have said, as the country’s first Hate Crime Advocacy Service is launched in County Durham.
Anti-racism campaigners say that the profile of hate crime has risen since the UK voted to leave the EU on June 23.
Laura Pidcock, North East education team manager at Show Racism the Red Card, said: “We are acutely aware that in some places there exists a hostile environment for Black, Asian and other minority communities.
