New car sales fall 16% in March despite new number plate as industry is rocked by 37% plunge for diesel models



The new car market has declined for the twelfth consecutive month with diesel sales plummeting by more than a third in the industry's most important month of the year.
There was a 15.7 per cent fall in all vehicle registrations in March, which is one of the most lucrative months of the year for the sector as buyers look to get their hands on the latest number plate.
