NEW ALZHEIMER’S HOPE: Simple injection could help treat disease
 

British scientists have shown it is possible to interrupt the production of amyloid with a pioneering therapy.
The technique uses a virus to deliver a gene into the brain to kick-start the process. 
Experts said it could pave the way for treating dementia, cancer, arthritis and Parkinson’s.
Breakthrough experiments show the gene, known as PGC1-alpha, could prevent the formation of sticky clumps of protein which are thought to trigger the death of brain cells in sufferers.
