Neighbours speak of their shock after 15-year-old boy is shot in Sunderland
 

A community has been left shocked after a 15-year-old boy was shot while riding through a Sunderland housing estate.
The boy suffered a serious head wound in the shooting on Wednesday night and remains critical in Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Northumbria Police say the teenager was riding as a passenger on a motorbike in Hewitt Avenue when he was shot.
After the police cordon was lifted on Thursday evening residents spoke of their disbelief.
“It’s horrible, terrible,” said one woman, who would only give her name as Joanne.
