Neighbours of Benwell roof collapse are 'too scared to sleep in their own homes'



The hero who ran into a crumbling building after two floors collapsed in a Benwell accident has said families on the street are living in terror.
A house on Buddle Road was devastated when building materials seemingly fell through the roof, wiping out much of the two floors beneath, on August 29.
Roof replacement work was being carried out by Springs Roofing on the Your Homes Newcastle properties, who manage housing stock on behalf of Newcastle City Council.
As work continues, neighbours say they are too scared to sleep in their own bedrooms.
