Naval veteran finally sees his bravery rewarded - 71 years on
 

A 91-year-old veteran who served as part of the Arctic Convoys in World War Two has been recognised for his bravery.
John Clayburn, a father-of-one from Sunderland, served in the navy until 1947 and was feted by the Russian consulate in Edinburgh.
Mr Clayburn said: “It was all a bit of an embarrassment for me.
“I wasn’t expecting it at all.
“I was chairman of the group of other veterans in Sunderland for six years and the Russians sent anniversary medals for the Great Patriotic War.
