Mystery as more than 40 saplings are broken at Kedleston Estate near Derby

The owners of Kedleston Estate have been left perplexed by an "extraordinary" spate of tree vandalism after more than 40 saplings were broken in two.
Beer cans were discovered near the scene of the mysterious crime and Derbyshire police are appealing for information which they think happened between the end of August and September 23.
The cricket bat willow trees, otherwise known as Salix alba Caerulea, were part of a new plantation on the estate and have been growing for less than a year.
