Mums recall final moments spent with Whiston boys who never came home



The families of murdered Whiston schoolboys John Greenwood and Gary Miller spoke of their heartbreak as they recalled their final moments spent with the boys.
The 11-year-olds left their homes in August 1980 to go out to play together, but never returned.
The mortally wounded boys were later found by a dog walker, hidden under a mattress on the site of a disused colliery on Pottery Lane, Whiston, which had been turned into a rubbish tip.
Both died later in hospital and post mortems revealed they had suffered head injuries.
