Mum ‘overwhelmed’ after stranger agrees to transplant which could save life of girl with leukaemia



A perfect bone marrow match has been found which could save the life of a young girl fighting leukaemia.
Five-year-old Mia Phipps has been admitted to Sheffield Children's Hospital in preparation for a transplant operation which is planned for next week.
The match was found just weeks after Mia's parents, Chris, a Leicestershire Police officer, and Mandy, appealed to Leicester Mercury readers to consider signing up as potential donors.
The family, from Anstey Heights, have now been told a '10/10' match had been found in Germany.
