MPs rail against frozen state pension 'injustice' in Commons, and Labour pledges to support 550,000 elderly expats in pending manifesto



Labour is to include a pledge to unfreeze expats' state pensions in its election manifesto, but the Tory Government defended existing policy in a House of Commons debate this week.
Cross-party calls by MPs to start giving 550,000 British pensioners living overseas the same annual payout hikes as all other retirees were rebuffed by the Government.
State pensions are frozen when you first retire or move abroad if you decide to live in certain countries, such as Canada, India and Australia, but not in others - forcing many to struggle with the cost of living or give up and return home.
