Motorist Nathan Confrey found guilty of causing death of dad-of-four by driving carelessly on A500



A jury has found Nathan Confrey guilty of causing death by careless driving.
The 33-year-old had been on trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court this week following the death of father-of-four Nathan Smallwood.
He had pleaded not guilty to causing Mr Smallwood's death by dangerous driving, causing death by careless driving, and causing serious injury to Mr Smallwood's wife, Deborah, by dangerous driving.

The jury returned their verdicts at 3.35pm today – around 24 hours after being sent out to start their deliberations.
