Motorist airlifted with serious injuries after crash on main Cumbria road
 

A motorist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after crashing on one of Cumbria's main roads.
Fire crews, police officers and air ambulance medics rushed to the scene of the crash - the A66 between Warcop and Brough - about 1.50pm this afternoon.
A blue Nissan Micra was travelling east when it left the carriageway, overturned on the verge and landed on its roof.
It was the only car involved.
A police spokesman said: "It was some time before the driver - a woman from Scotland – was released from the vehicle."
