Most Hull babies are born outside marriage - but does it matter?



Most Hull babies are now born to parents who are not married, new figures show.
The Office for National Statistics data shows more than three in five babies in Hull are born to unmarried parents.
In Hull there were 3,579 live births in 2015 of which 2,471 were born outside a marriage or civil partnership. This is the equivalent of 69 per cent of births, up from 68.2 per cent in 2014 and significantly higher than the UK average of 47.9 per cent.
