Miracle escape for boy after falling in canal at Walsall
 

A boy escaped with his life after he sank waist-deep in mud after falling into a canal lock.
The 12-year-old boy was stranded up to his waist in mud in the canal in Sandwell.
Fire crews from Walsall were called to Bell Bridge over the Rushall Canal in Walsall at 7pm on Thursday.
They had reports that a boy was stranded in mud in the canal behind The Bell pub.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Fire Service said when crews arrived they found the boy stuck in waist-height mud in a canal basin.
She said firefighters pulled him to safety by lowering ladders into the basin.
