Middlesbrough school adopts name of Victoria Cross war hero Stan Hollis
 

A war hero is set to inspire a new generation under plans to rename a school.
Middlesbrough soldier Stan Hollis, the only man to earn a Victoria Cross during the D-Day landings, will lend his name to the latest Teesside school to convert to academy status.
Prince Bishop School, Middlesbrough, it is the latest to join the Horizon Specialist Academy Trust (HSAT).
The conversion is the 100th for North-east educational experts the Avec Partnership.
The 110-student Saltersgill Avenue school, which specialises in social, emotional and mental health issues, will become Hollis Academy.
