Merseyside police and fire services want a new drone - let's hope it doesn't sink this time
 

Merseyside's police and fire services are considering buying a shared drone to help tackle crime and keep residents safe.
In 2007, Merseyside became the first police force to trial a drone and three years later they made the first UK arrest using the technology when they managed to track a car thief by using the thermal imaging camera .
But in 2011 the £13,000 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which was 1m wide, weighed less than a bag of sugar and could record video from 500m off the ground, sunk to the bottom of the Mersey.
