Men In Crisis: Suicide rates are on the rise in Merseyside - but help is at hand
 

Suicide rates among young people are on the rise in parts of Merseyside, and the ECHO is highlighting a crisis that particularly affects men.
It is the single biggest killer of males aged under 45 in the UK, with 76% of all suicides in 2014 being men.
Locally, 10 people aged under 35 in Sefton killed themselves in 2014 – the highest number in a single year since 2002.
There were another 18 deaths in St Helens between 2012 and 2014, the highest level since 2003-2005.
And in Liverpool, 39 young lives were lost from 2012 to 2014 – the greatest since 2003.
