Meet the teacher who changed an autistic pupil's life - by helping to boost his confidence
 

A mum has paid tribute to the “inspirational” teacher who transformed her autistic son’s confidence.
Marie Simon said when her eight-year-old son Daniel started Year 3 at Howletch Lane Primary School, Peterlee, she was struggling to cope with his behaviour.
The 49-year-old had raised concerns that Daniel may have autism but was told that “he just had a shy personality and that putting a label on him was not helpful”.
